In The Secret Place – Psalm 91:1-4

In the Secret Place

On April 18, 2021, Pastor Betty spoke on the importance of being in a secret place with the Lord, to have quiet time with Him.

Psalm 91:1-4 states,

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’ Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

We need to dwell in the Lord’s presence and be connected with Him. God is our refuge. He is not a God way up in the clouds. He’s the God who wants to have a personal relationship with each one of us. He wants us to trust Him. We will find refuge in Him. He’s faithful no matter what we are going through. We need to remember that God is in control. When we trust God, He will help us. He will give us that extra strength to walk daily with Him. When we spend quiet time with the Lord, we will be able to hear His voice and His instructions. The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; it’s effect will be quietness. When we trust Him, we are full of joy, no matter what life throws at us. If God is for us, who can be against us?

Psalm 46:10 says,

He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Quietness is what we need. Having a quiet spirit means having control over our emotions. It’s not always easy, but God can help us and guide us. We are living in troubled times. We need to reach out to those who need an encouraging word. God will never leave us. He will never abandon us. Our quiet time with Him is paramount. We may not be called to be preachers, but we can lift someone up. Let our words be nourishment to others.

Pastor Betty challenges us to seek God, to spend time with Him and to read His Word. We can be refreshed in His presence.
