Cultivating a Grateful Heart – Thanksgiving Service 2018

On Sunday October 7th Pastor Eric shared a thanksgiving sermon.

The essence of the message was to always by mindful and proactive in developing a grateful and thankful heart.

1Thessalonians 5:18 “give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”.

There are two things that will rob you of a grateful and thankful heart:

1) comparions with others. The only person we should compare ourself to is Jesus. And this is to encourage us, not to make us feel like we cannot ever reach fully the perfection of Christ. We are encouraged to walk daily, progression with Jesus, so that day by day, we gradually become better versions of ourself. Not better than others.

2). Complaining. Stop complaining. Before complaining about your circumstances, PRAY!
Philippians 2:14 “do everything without grumbling or arguing”

We live in a fallen world. But as children of God we have a responsibility and the privilege to pray to a God who hears us and what’s to be in relationship with us. We should be thankful and pray for our leaders, our land, our nation, and our world. God’s word tells us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people (this is us – God’s children), who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear them from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal THEIR LAND”.
