Unleashing the Impact of Impartation – Romans 1:11
Listen to last week’s sermon was titled “Unleashing the Impact of Impartation,” found in Romans 1:11.
Understanding the Roots of Impartation
The roots of impartation can be traced back to the Old Testament, where figures like Isaac and Jacob practiced it to pass down blessings and spiritual favor to their descendants. These traditions continued into the New Testament, as seen in the life of Jesus and the early church. Impartation has been an integral aspect of the Christian journey, akin to the ABCs of our faith, and is often referred to as spiritual milk that nourishes and strengthens believers. See Hebrews 6:6.
Challenges Faced by Impartation Today
Pastor Eric acknowledged that the practice of impartation seems to be slowly eroding from the practices of many believers today. Despite its historical significance, this powerful spiritual practice is undervalued, and its true potential remains underutilized. In our contemporary society, where self-reliance and individualism prevail, some Christians have become self-sufficient, neglecting the transformative impact of impartation.
The Profound Impact of Impartation
Throughout the sermon, Pastor Eric drew attention to the various aspects of impartation as seen in the Bible:
Conduit for Blessing: Impartation often involves transferring God’s favor and authority from one generation to another. It can be compared to a father passing on blessings to his descendants. See Genesis 27, Genesis 48.
Conduit of the Holy Spirit: The laying on of hands has been associated with the receiving of the Holy Spirit, especially in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. See: Acts 8:17-19, Acts 10:44-48.
Conduit for Spiritual Gifts: Impartation can result in the reception of spiritual gifts, which are bestowed by the Holy Spirit for the edification of the Church. See: Romans 1:11, 2 Timothy 1:6, 1 Timothy 4:14.
Conduit for Healing: The laying on of hands is often used as a means to pray for healing, as seen in the accounts of Jesus and the apostles healing the sick. See: Mark 16:17-18, Acts 28:8, Mark 6:5.
Conduit for Commissioning: Impartation can signify consecration for service to God, as individuals are sent off to do the work of the Lord. See: Acts 13:3, Acts 6:6.
The Role of Faith in Impartation
In the sermon, Pastor Eric highlighted the pivotal role of faith in receiving God’s blessings through impartation. Citing numerous instances from the Bible, he stressed that faith acts as the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen. See Hebrews 11:1. When individuals come forward to receive prayer and impartation, they must approach with unwavering faith, fully believing that God’s power and grace will work in their lives.
